Nice work. I do like the character the most of course ^_^. I do think that there's a little too much text, and it takes up a little too much space in the composition. Reducing that element, I think the look would be cleaner and more effective. Other than that, well done. The character is bold and strong. Oh, and the "Not my scan..." confused me at first :P.

f

I think this is a great drawing Yura. Now you need to take this scan and vector it too! The composition in this is great and the character designs are quite nice. My only criticism would be that the facial anatomy is ever so slightly off, but it's so slight that it doesn't bother me at all. Good work.

f

Simple or no, your vector is very well done either way. I don't have the skills to pull off a vector quite this good, which I regret. So I do believe you've done a great job.

f

I'm not sure what else I can say that I have not already said about the other pieces. It's evocative, engaging, and spurs the imagination. All of this happens with such ease, and on account of the simplicity and minimalism of such a work.

Is it true that the artist is a woman? I didn't know either way, but I just noticed LordWe's comment above...

f

Something else that I noticed with this piece in particular, is that I am emotionally engaged by it. It surprises me a little with how much ease my engagement comes about. This image makes me remember the kind of positive and carefree attitudes that are accompanied by enjoying yourself with good friends.

The other scans elicit similar emotionally charged responses within me, and I think that further speaks of the strength of these artworks.

f

This is a prime example of how I would want to imagine what she is actually doing. I'm thinking of her being on a boat or something, with the breeze flying through her hair. It's very evocative, which seems to be something that all of these works have in common.

f

One thing that I constantly seem to think of in these scans is how much is left out. This causes us all to imagine what the context of the situation is, and reminds me of my own endeavors in my paintings. Beyond that, I must confess that my thoughts in this piece deviate into subversive themes, so I'll spare you any such conjecture :P.

f

This is quite strange the first time you look at it. It has an awkward feeling because of the distorted anatomy, yet it is strangely attractive at the same time. It's almost as if she's striving for something...

f

Very simple, again, but filled with a lot of joy. Makes me think of a pajama party XD.

f

Goregous piece, as usual. I love the movement in this, evident even with its degree of abstraction. Thank you again ^_^.

f

This is a gorgeous wall Erdbeer-chan ^_^. I love the composition, and the vectoring is wonderful. Very strong piece indeed.

I do have a couple of suggestions though :P. I think it might be a smoother piece if you did not tile the background texture but used a continuous piece (so that would be a pretty easy change). The other suggestion would be to not have the figure terminate at the garment on the bottom. It does look a bit creepy ^_^', but then maybe that was your intention.

Thank you very much for sharing this with us :D.

f

A very beautiful wall ^_^. I do believe that this version is better than the linked one. I like the additional details here and the shadows that you added. Overall very nice textures and the softness of the whole piece is very appealing.

I think that if there is anything I would suggest to change about it, then it would be the text. I think that you do not need the text in this piece, as it takes away from the composition. If you leave the text out, I believe it would be a cleaner and stronger work.

f

I noticed that the image has a scanlines/grain, and I'm assuming you added those, right? :P. I think this image is simple, but perhaps lacks a little bit of strength. My suggestion would be to perhaps use a higher contrast background in comparison to the character of Kumo. If you put him against a darker backdrop, then the image of him will pop more and have a stronger impact.

I'm guessing you probably wanted to maintain the idea of clouds, and that etheral feal by using such a backgrounds, but a little bit more contrast could still be used to improve things while maintaining that feel. I think the composition is good, and so it's just the colors that could be improved.

I actually liked the anime more than many other people I know, and ended up buying the whole thing. I know that it didn't quite live up to the FF standard, but it was still a good show with many good designs.

f

Though I am not a big fan of Naruto, this is a well composed wall. However, I can't quite tell the difference between the scan (Set B) and the wall, other than the sun and text. I'm sure you did a fair amount of work on it, and you mention doing vector work on it as well. So did you vector all the characters anew for this?

f

Ha ha, that's awesome :D. Some of these scans are just full of joy. This artist has a strong talent for keeping his work pure.

f

This is clearly well done. I have actually no complaints about this piece, though I do have one small concern. From this picture, which is admittedly not of the highest resolution, I could not quite make out what her left arm was doing back there. I'm sure it is clearer in the actual painting though :D. Perhaps you can update the image with a higher quality one?

I am curious now to hear if you have done any other paintings of this or similar caliber, and also whether this piece is still in your possession? It's always nice to see someone painting based on anime/game subculture.

So good job on this. I know it took a long time. But you clearly have a firm grasp on the medium. Any further paintings that you are planning to do?

f

Overall I think this is a strong piece, yet there are some elements that could be improved. I believe that her eye appears somewhat unnatural because of the high contrast of the iris. This would be diminished had this been a frontal portrait, but the profile view adds to this unnatural feeling. Also, I think that the "floating" of her head in the piece lessens the strength of the composition. I would have recommended to fill the background entirely with color as opposed to the more localized choice.

As such, the compositional elements of this piece could be solved in part by cropping it closer to the face. However, I think you have done quite will with your color choice, and it gives the face a bold quality. I think that had you chosen to extend the neck and show perhaps the shoulders as well, the painting would have stronger effect.

Still, your strokes are well controlled, which is important. So the hair is very well executed, and the blending of colors in the face is very well done too. Moreover, the anatomy of the face is accurate and bears no awkwardness (with the exception of the eye). I think you have done well with this, and I would love to see you attempt this piece a second time.

If you had that inclination, I would not recommend trying to "fix" this piece. This one is finished. But you could always attempt a second version anew.

f

Naturally this piece also emphasizes the feeling of serenity. And of course the joy of music. Though I am not such a music fanatic that I have headphones on all of the time (unlike some others I have seen), I can certainly relate to this emotion. I think we all probably can. The yellow background lends this further strength.

f

Another beautiful piece of course. I'm not sure what to say exactly. Though I do love the lines in this and the demure quality that the vertical arrangement brings forth. Her hair lines are particularly striking.

f

It may have been easy to make the mistake of this resulting image to show the character as dead. Yet a number of subtle details, and the redness on his cheek, clearly show that he is sleeping. The horizontal composition further enhances the feeling of calm in this work.

f

Once again, such simple imagery, yet the composition gives it such energy! It's a wonderful scan Misa-chan ^_^.

f

For the most part, I think this piece is just funny XD. The dichotomy lies in the "freedom" of movement and expression juxtaposed against the demure and conservative attire of this woman, creating a very humorous work ^_^.

f

The most striking thing about this image, to me, is the composition. This, more so than the other pieces makes the negative space even more important than the positive. It's almost like a kanji character...

f

This demonstrates how a skilled artist, can use so few elements to demonstrate so much. A mere necklace is all that this artist needed to show motion and gravity all at the same time!
